Stanford engineering students build basketball-shooting robots

Students in Mechanical Engineering 210 design and build bots that shoot and dunk as many “basketballs” as possible in less than two minutes.

Students in Mechanical Engineering 210 spent most of winter quarter learning about mechanics, electronics and computer programming. After time in the classroom, they integrated everything they had learned to design and build a robot for the ultimate final project. This year’s competition, held in front of a large, cheering crowd, featured bots that shoot and dunk as many “basketballs” as possible in less than two minutes.
