Professor Emeritus Larry J. Leifer passed away on August 29, 2026. Professor Leifer was a leader in design thinking at Stanford and an influential figure in the broader design community. He will be remembered for his creativity, vision, and leadership, but also for the generosity and energy with which he inspired students, colleagues, and collaborators around the world.

Larry’s family and his colleagues in the Stanford design community are planning an event at Stanford to celebrate his life and honor his legacy.
