Assistant Professor or untenured Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University ( invites applications for several tenure-track faculty appointments at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor). We seek exceptional applicants who will conduct innovative research, contribute to undergraduate teaching, and develop specialized graduate courses. Outstanding candidates in all areas of mechanical engineering are encouraged to apply. The Department has identified the broad areas of energy and environment, human health, and robotics and autonomy as high priority, and seeks research and scholarship which will advance solutions to the challenges in these fields. A successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to mentor a team of graduate students in Ph.D. research.

Professor (Teaching), all ranks, Faculty Position

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University invites applications for a teaching professor, at all levels of seniority, with specialization in topics related to design and manufacturing. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the department's future in design and making education. The candidate will teach classes, typically two per academic quarter, develop undergraduate curriculum, and provide leadership in the broader Mechanical Engineering educational community.

Faculty Affairs and Staffing Manager

The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks an experienced Faculty Affairs & Staffing Manager to join our team. This position will report to the Director of Finance and Operations, with a dotted line reporting to the Department Chair. In this role, you will act as a resource for a wide range of faculty related activities, which includes providing guidance to faculty members on various topics and managing searches, professoriate and appointment forms. You will be responsible for managing the faculty affairs function for the department as well as providing guidance regarding faculty, academic/other teaching staff and visiting appointments, reappointments, promotions, and the search process. This role will also act as a resource and the first point of contact for a wide range of personnel issues, practices and procedures. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing the personnel administration for the department and facilitate the department’s hiring process in conjunction with the hiring supervisors.
